HIFIS release notes


Before implementing this version:

  • create a backup of your database
  • take a snapshot of your application tier

This is important in the event that you need to roll back the changes.

If you have not yet implemented releases 58.1 or above, note that updating to release 59.3 may have an impact on your custom reports.

Check release notes 58.1 for more information on the affected tables.

Release highlights

  • The Point-in-Time (PiT) Count Module: fixed bug relating to registry week function
  • One minor change and 27 bug fixes

When updating to release

You can apply the coordinated access consent to every client that currently has explicit consent on their installation.

This is for communities who have:

  • already sought the coordinated access consent from their clients, and
  • recorded it in HIFIS as a “bundled” consent using the existing explicit consent functionality

Choosing to opt-out of this option means that you will need to manually add the coordinated access consent for each client separately. The option will not present itself again in the future.

Minor changes

Changes in this release affect the following modules or sections.

Case Management

New format for the multi-goal session allows users to allocate separate time spent for each goal during a session. Users can decide to continue splitting the time evenly as well.

Bug fixes

Changes in this release affect the following modules or sections.


  • Inactive and deceased clients can no longer be booked into a shelter
  • Users can now book clients out after switching ‘’Referred from’’ to “Mandatory”


Fixed error when bulletin board has more than 10 bulletins on it.

Case Management

Session activity types now appear in the correct order based on the sorting order selected by the user.

Client Activity Log

Client Activity Log now generates an entry when a client is added as a witness to an incident.

Custom Table

  • Users are able to add custom look-up values to the Group Role look up table
  • Custom currency fields now save when using HIFIS in French
  • Service provider now appears in the drop down list when using the Service Provider field in a custom table

Directory of Service Housing Unit

Fixed address search filter not finding addresses that start with a single character.


VAT attachments can no longer appear in the document module.

Good and Services

Added money mask that was missing in the Goods and Services for the Unit Price field.

Group Activities

  • Fixed the sorting function in the Date column for the Group Activity List. The sorting function now considers hours in the morning and afternoon
  • Users can now carry programs over when replicating a group activity

Housing History

  • Users can now delete housing history records that have a geographic region tag
  • The geographic region field shows the correct tags when you click display on a housing history record

Housing Loss Prevention

Subsidies now appear in the Housing Loss Prevention display view.

Housing Placement

Housing placement records are now applied to family members if the user decides to include them.

Note: The record still belongs to the client from which the housing placement was created. Attempting to edit or view the record will take the user to the proper client’s file.

Look-Up Table

Resolved missing translations for the following look up table:

  • Building Types – Types de bâtiment
  • Cause of death – Cause du décès
  • Reason for Goods and Services – Raison pour les biens et services
  • Watch Concern Types – Types de risque observe
  • Storage Outcome – Statut d’entreposage
  • Medication Disposal – Élimination de médicaments


  • Fixed people record duplicating when adding a new person in the People module

PiT Count

  • Corrected any missing French translation in the PiT module
  • Users can now create a client after conducting a PiT Count survey if registry week is activated


Fixed issue with Questionnaires not exporting properly.


  • Fixed the edit rooms and bed rights. Users only need the Edit Rooms and Beds and List Rooms and Beds right to be able to edit rooms and beds in HIFIS
  • Reviewed and translated missing French labels in the rights tree


Removed the ‘’Add PiT Live Volunteer’’ option if there is no active PiT events in HIFIS.

Various Factors

Risk levels now appears in when using Legal – Bail in Life Events.

Waiting List

Declined-Anonymous consent client’s name are now hidden when accessing the shared waiting list from another service provider.
