Privacy Impact Assessment on the Accessibility Hub

Title

Privacy Impact Assessment on the Accessibility Hub

Description

The Accessibility Hub (the Hub) was created in March 2023 in response to the Accessible Canada Act (ACA). The main objective of the Hub is to advocate for accessibility and provide employees with disabilities and their managers with support, guidance and resources on accessibility and the duty to accommodate. The Hub also helps accelerate the implementation of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada's Accessibility Plan by collaborating closely with partners across the Department to become accessible by default and inclusive by design, in order to realize a barrier-free Canada by 2040.

Why a privacy impact assessment was completed

A privacy impact assessment was conducted to develop an informed assessment of the privacy risks associated with the personal information collected and used by the Accessibility Hub and to inform recommendations to mitigate any identified privacy risks to an acceptable level.

Additional information

The following risks have been identified and mitigated: accountability, limiting collection, limiting disclosure, accuracy, and openness of personal information.

Related personal information banks

The personal information banks that apply to this initiative are Employee Personnel Record, Human Resources Planning, Occupational Health and Safety and the Accessibility Hub Personal Information Bank.
