Build Canada Homes' role in advancing Indigenous housing delivery
The Government of Canada has confirmed that Build Canada Homes will lead the delivery of approximately $1.7 billion in funding to support Indigenous housing providers serving Indigenous Peoples living in urban, rural, and northern areas across Canada.
Build Canada Homes is working closely with Indigenous partners and housing providers, as well as federal partners to design an approach that supports Indigenous leadership, reduces barriers, and accelerates housing delivery.
Build Canada Homes is in the process of developing its approach for this funding. Indigenous partners and housing providers will have opportunities to share insights and ideas to finalize the delivery framework for more urban, rural and northern Indigenous housing.
In the meantime, we continue to partner with Indigenous housing providers on housing opportunities in accordance with our Investment Policy Framework and eligibility requirements.
Build Canada Homes recognizes the importance of certainty for Indigenous partners and housing providers. We are committed to sharing more information as soon as the delivery framework is finalized.
