Supporting our communities

Canada is known for its abundance of clean, fresh water. When people turn on the tap, they expect reliable drinking water for themselves and their loved ones. To meet growth needs, enable housing for all Canadian communities, and to support vulnerable populations, communities need to increase the capacity and condition of their water infrastructure.

To deliver on these priorities, it takes investment by all levels of government in the systems that treat wastewater and deliver drinking water to communities and households. Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada is an important partner, committed to working with all levels of government in making these investments possible.

Every day, we're supporting Canadian communities' access to clean water

Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada investments help ensure that our existing systems are up to the task of producing and delivering the reliably clean water that people in Canada expect.

Water infrastructure is critical to support housing and economic growth in Canadian communities

Water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure systems are essential services that support growth and contribute to the long-term well-being of Canadian communities. As new housing is built across the country, our investments help ensure that residents are connected to clean, safe and reliable drinking water, and effective wastewater and stormwater systems.
