Building Community Connections in Québec City
Funding provided through the Building Canada Fund – Large Urban Centres Component
A community thrives when residents feel connected. The federal government is investing in spaces where people can gather, learn, and play. In Québec City's Maizerets neighbourhood, the Centre communautaire Mgr Marcoux is a modern and inclusive spot for residents to come together to stay active, learn new skills, and build lasting relationships.
Did you know?
The centre was designed to complement the nearby facilities like the tennis and pétanque courts, a skateboard area, a pool, and a water play area. This integration enriches the neighbourhood, offering residents a variety of engaging activities.
Previously located in an older building, federal investments supported the relocation of the Centre to a new space of 3,000 square metres across two floors. The new building meets universal accessibility standards so that everyone, of all abilities, can enjoy the facilities. It features a fitness room, spaces for artistic activities, a gymnasium, a community kitchen, and several other multifunctional community areas.
The activities and programs offered at the Centre Mgr Marcoux have something for everyone—ranging from cooking classes in an accessible kitchen, open to all, including individuals with mobility limitations, a community drop-in daycare for children, French language integration workshops for recent immigrants, a pétanque team for those over 50 to participate in the local league, and more! The diverse opportunities not only unite the community but also promote healthier, more connected lifestyles.
The Government of Canada's investment in recreational projects like this one highlights its commitment to improving the quality of life for Canadians and building lively and inclusive communities. The Centre communautaire Mgr Marcoux is a place of community spirit, making it a cornerstone of the Maizerets neighbourhood.
