Funding providing through the Canada Community-Building Fund

The H.C. Greenlaw Memorial Park has been transformed into a vibrant hub for recreation, sports, and community connection in the heart of rural New Brunswick. Once a school, the grounds have been reimagined and modernized into a welcoming gathering space where residents of all ages can come together and create lasting memories.

At the centre of the park, the rehabilitated ballfield provides space for community sports and gatherings, featuring upgraded fencing and new benches. Bleachers now line the sidelines, giving friends and family a comfortable place to cheer on local teams.

Did you know?

The park is named after Harry C. Greenlaw, a local pioneer who helped shape Millville. He was recognized for his significant contributions to potato farming, and honoured in October 2022 by being inducted into the Atlantic Agriculture Hall of Fame.

Spaces that Inspire Play and Connection

Beyond baseball, the park offers even more ways to get moving and stay active. A fully fenced basketball court welcomes pickup games, while a couple of playground structures invite children into a place for discovery and adventure. These features encourage active lifestyles and create opportunities for young people to grow, learn teamwork, and build lasting friendships.

The newly built park facility adds convenience for residents and visitors, with public washrooms, an outdoor kitchen, and a designated BBQ area that is perfect for summer picnics and community events. Families gather for birthdays, neighbours share meals, and local groups host seasonal celebrations, making the space a centre of connection. New lighting and security cameras help ensure everyone can enjoy the space safely.

Investing in Community Growth

This project was made possible by an investment from the Government of Canada through the Canada Community-Building Fund and the municipality. The funding reflects a commitment to build stronger, healthier, and more sustainable communities across the country. By investing in local infrastructure, the project improves daily quality of life and leaves a lasting legacy for generations.

The park has become a welcome destination for everything from afternoon ball games to evening strolls under the lights. The H.C. Greenlaw Memorial Park honours its namesake’s community spirit, ensuring this special place continues to bring people together for years to come.
