Imagine a library where you can not only borrow books but also create your own podcast, design with 3D printers, or learn how to sew. This is exactly what Prince Edward Island’s Charlottetown Library Learning Centre offers. With federal support, it’s now a space for innovation and creativity, open to everyone in the community.

Some of the awesome features available at the centre:

  • Audio recording studios
  • 3D printers
  • maker space
  • community rooms
  • café
  • and more!

Located in the heart of Charlottetown’s downtown-core, the library moved from its former location, which it occupied for 57 years, to this new, modern facility that’s more than three times larger. More space means a bigger collection of books, more DVDs, cutting-edge technologies like 3D printers, but also additional meeting and study rooms, a multipurpose auditorium, community kitchen, and areas designed to host community programs and events.

More than just a place for books, the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre has become a true community hub—a fully accessible space for people to meet, learn, and collaborate. Whether you’re studying, gathering with friends, or attending a local event, the library offers something for everyone.

The new library contributes to the revitalization of downtown Charlottetown and ensures that everyone has access to the latest resources and technologies. By supporting projects like this, the Government of Canada is helping build vibrant communities that can thrive for years to come.

Quick facts:

  • The Charlottetown Library Learning Centre was made possible thanks to federal, provincial, and municipal funding, as well as fundraising efforts by the local community.

  • The library offers meeting and study rooms, multipurpose auditorium, boardroom, Maker Space, community kitchen, outdoor seating, audio recording studios, gaming zone, programing space, public access computers and WIFI, the Shed café and rental space opportunities.
  • Under the Investing in Canada Plan, the federal government is investing more than $180 billion over 12 years in public transit projects, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, trade and transportation routes, and Canada’s rural and northern communities.
  • Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada helps address complex challenges that Canadians face every day—ranging from the rapid growth of our cities, to climate change, to environmental threats to our water and land.
