Blueprints for a Renters' Bill of Rights and a Home Buyers' Bill of Rights
Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home. These Blueprints for a Renters' and Home Buyers' Bill of Rights are part of our commitment to making that a reality for all Canadians.
The housing crisis facing Canada today is a result of decades of declining ambition and investments, and represents one of our greatest economic and social challenges. We can overcome it. Doing so will require everyone coming together - all levels of government, financial institutions, private and not-for-profit sectors, buyers and sellers, renters, property owners, and industry professionals.
We're calling on them to help increase supply, while making the rental and purchase markets fairer and more efficient.

- Addressing inequity and discrimination
- Safeguarding the system
You can read them in detail, here:
Provinces and territories make the rules and regulations related to renting or home buying, as well as information on rights and responsibilities. Provincial and territorial organizations may include real estate boards, landlord-tenant boards, social service agencies, legal aid associations, and human rights commissions. The Office of Consumer Affairs provides links to some of these organizations as well as general information pertaining to renting and home buying.
