Funding streams under Reaching Home

Grants and Contributions projects affected by COVID-19

Please contact your funding representative if your project is affected by COVID-19.

Reaching Home is a community-based program aimed at preventing and reducing homelessness. It provides direct funding to communities across Canada to support their efforts in developing local solutions to homelessness.

Eligible organizations may receive funding to prevent and reduce homelessness in Canada through regional and/or national funding streams.

National funding stream

The national funding stream helps to develop a better understanding of homelessness based on local data collection. This stream supports communities in their development and adoption of a coordinated access system. The stream promotes capacity building and activities to understand, gather, analyze, and disseminate information about homelessness and foster innovation in the sector.

The Surplus Federal Real Property for Homelessness Initiative (SFRPHI)

This initiative is no longer available. Please find information about the new Federal Lands Initiative.

We will continue to monitor projects under SFRPHI until completion. SFRPHI monitoring activities include:

  • annual reporting
  • resolution of legal issues, and
  • modifications to contribution agreements

For questions about SFRPHI projects, please contact us by email at: HPD.SFRPHI-IBIEF.DPMI@infc.gc.ca

Regional funding streams

Reaching Home has 4 regional funding streams that provide funding to communities to address local homelessness needs.
