Boldness and determination in the service of health
"Social inequalities in health: understanding and intervening differently."
Engage the Quebec City community in a societal project that prioritizes the sustainable health and well-being of citizens through collective and digital intelligence.
Quebec City's challenge appears ambitious, but it is achievable, and Quebec City will rise to that challenge through the proposed structuring project, the power and versatility of information technologies, a change in culture among its population, the active participation of organizations concerned with the sustainable health and well-being of the community, and strong citizen engagement. And through its boldness and determination.
8 years difference in life expectancy!Footnote 1
Unacceptable and unfair!
THE TIME HAS COME FOR QUEBEC CITY TO TAKE ACTION.
Solid foundations
The starting point of the project: a clear and inspired vision of what is being done on a global scale as well as innovations developed here and elsewhere. The project is divided into 9 activities, each of which meets the real needs of the population. These 9 activities also mean 9 mixed work teams that skillfully share the knowledge of health specialists, business experts, researchers, and computer scientists. Finally, millions of existing data will be cross-referenced for the first time.
Rigour and results
The City's proposed project management practices are among the best, and its pool of specialists is impressive. At the heart of the achievements? Data accumulated, processed, cross-referenced in a dedicated collaborative space, then processed thanks to advanced technologies that are perfectly mastered and interoperable. And the governance structure it has adopted calls for full collaboration between its teams and its partners.
Engagement and inclusion
Partners, community organizations and citizens are already committed to the project, and a skilled mix of digital resources and on-site presence will lead to sustained and inclusive participation.
The project will be carried out in compliance with applicable municipal, provincial and federal regulations, policies and legislation, and information security, as well as the protection of personal information, will be ensured. Finally, the budgetary resources will be provided. The Smart Cities Challenge for Quebec City: an opportunity, a path, an ambition.
