Privacy Impact Assessment on Monitoring Hybrid Compliance at Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada

Title

Privacy Impact Assessment on Monitoring Hybrid Compliance at Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada

Description

As part of the Treasury Board Secretariat's (TBS) new directive on the common hybrid work model, all departments were required to monitor and report compliance levels of on-site presence effective March 31, 2023. Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada implemented measures to report our departments implementation of the hybrid model in early 2023. Over the past year, these measures have worked adequately to fulfil our reporting requirements; however, the activity is evolving to improve the accuracy and sustainability of reporting to make the hybrid compliance process more efficient and secure, resulting in a substantial modification to the activity for which the Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Office initially reviewed from a privacy lens.

Why a privacy impact assessment was completed

A privacy impact assessment was conducted to develop an informed assessment of the privacy risks associated with the collection and use of personal information for hybrid compliance and to inform recommendations to mitigate any identified privacy risks to an acceptable level.

Additional information

The following risks have been identified and mitigated: limiting the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, retention and disposal of personal information, accuracy of personal information, safeguards, and technology and privacy.

Related personal information banks

The following personal information banks apply to this initiative: Attendance and Leave, Electronic Network Monitoring Logs, Employee Personnel Record, and Physical Access Controls.
